Summary

Pairing your beverage with VR experience is now a thing.

You might like your martini with a twist, but how about a whisky with a side of VR?

That’s what’s being served up on the newly unveiled ‘Showtime Cocktails’ menu at London’s One Aldwych hotel.

Enter: The Origin

Topping a roster of theatre-themed cocktails, ‘The Origin’ is a boozy blend of Dalmore 12 year old whisky, Merlet cherry liqueur, grapefruit juice, chocolate bitters and Lallier Champagne.

So far, so delicious.

The unusual part comes when you order the drink: you’re given a virtual reality headset, and left to enjoy a stunning 2-minute VR film.

From hotel to Highlands

Starting with breathtaking aerial footage of the Scottish Highlands, this follows your whiskey’s journey from barley field, to distillery, and all the way to Covent Garden – where it’s served up to you in the hotel’s Lobby Bar.

Award-winning bartender Pedro Paulo will ensure that The Origin is served up as you take off your VR goggles.

Be prepared to pay out for this showmanship however – the cocktail will cost you £18 ($23).
