Live Six Nations rugby in stunning virtual reality - with England Rugby VR.
Will you be joining Wales to cheer on the dragons at the Six Nations this Saturday? Or does your allegiance lie across the channel with France?
Whoever you root for: it’s no longer just about watching rugby stars in action – it’s about living the dream.
Today you can go head-to-head against the England Rugby team in a new virtual reality experience from O2.
Be welcomed by the team as “the new recruit”, get top tips on how to take on the nation’s burly best, and even put the ball between the posts in this world first combo of 360° video and life-like CGI.
“We really enjoyed working [to] develop this unique virtual reality experience – it’s the only game out there that has had input from England Rugby,” said Paul Gustard, Defence Coach at England Rugby.
“I hope the experience gives rugby fans and novices alike an insight into the way we train and the amount of hard work that is involved in being an International rugby player.”
Curious sport fans can try out England Rugby VR at Twickenham stadium (on match days), or at any of 90 O2 shops nationwide.
If you’re lucky enough to own a VR headset, you’ll also soon be able to immerse yourself at home, as it’s going to be available for download later this year (it’s compatible with Samsung Gear VR, Oculus Rift and HTC Vive).
It’s not the first time we’ve been given a virtual insight into England Rugby – O2 is also behind the 2014 ‘Wear the Rose’ experience that puts fans at the heart of the Senior England Rugby Team.
As technology progresses you can get closer to your idols than ever.
Who doesn’t want to score a try against champions?
