We couldn't have done it without you.
As the year draws to a close, and we look back on 2016, there’s a lot to be proud of.
We hit the 500,000 readers a month milestone, passed over 20,000 subscribers to our newsletter, and picked up even more industry awards. We may only be 18-months-old, but we’re already turning a profit, and we’ve partnered with great brands like EY, TechCrunch, and Huawei.
We were also able to end the year on a high, closing a six-figure investment round, backed by some of the smartest minds in tech, business and finance.
But quite simply, we couldn’t have done it without you. If you didn’t exist as the loyal, curious readers that you are, we wouldn’t exist.
So thank you. Now we get to keep doing what we love – and with extra funding – we can aspire to do it even better.
Next year we will continue to base our HQ at Telefonica’s Wayra business accelerator in London.
Now with backing from investors including former digital chief at Mail Online Paul Field, and angel investor Andrew Dixon, we are excited to bring you even greater global scope.
Our five-strong editorial team will be expanding with a new office opening in New York. We’ll also be adding to our esteemed list of writers, with a focus on East Asia towards the end of 2017.
Beyond this, we hope to expand our coverage in other cities around the world where audiences are hungry for high-quality tech news. Readers in Shanghai, Tokyo, Delhi and Sydney. We can see you, and we’re coming.
We know the media landscape is evolving, but while many print publications struggle to find their feet, we’re proving digital publishing can carry the torch.
Our video series have proved hugely popular, and this is a medium we’ll be placing a greater focus on in years to come.
We’re proud of our organic growth – and as you continue to share The Memo‘s stories that matter with colleagues and friends, we plan to continue to grow our audience in 2017.
And in a few more years, we aim to become a leading digital brand, telling the stories that matter for decades to come.
Once again, thank you for your unwavering support. Here’s to a wonderful 2017.
