No escape: Canada’s immigration website crashes

By Kitty Knowles 9 November 2016

We'd be looking for a way out too.

Today you woke up to learn that Donald Trump will be the new President of the United States.

That means that 48% of Americans will today be celebrating. But another 48%, the Hillary Clinton supporters, will likely be distraught.

Sadly, for those who hoped to escape election turmoil, Canada’s immigration website has been experiencing difficulties.

While we can’t say for sure that the crash is due to the number of visitors, we think we’d want to leave the US too under a Donald Trump Presidency.

After all, the Prime Minister of Canada, the Liberal Party’s Justin Trudeau, has rather wonderful views about women, race and religion. He couldn’t be more different than the President-elect.

What Canada’s immigration website usually looks like…

What it looked like as the election poll results were rolling in…

Unsurprisingly the internet was quick to link the website’s crash to some impending mass exodus.

Others let the world know how sad they were that they wouldn’t be able to run away from America’s election madness.

Do you live in the US? How do you feel about the result?

Here’s hoping Canada doesn’t shut the door on those looking for a brighter future…
